Chefs Gallery, Bright Girls, Executives, Sick 2, Vandells
punkdaddy writes: Thanks to Bob Machin and Pete Lyons for putting me straight on the Tale of the Two Marcuses. Yes of course, Marcus Myers was in the Lemon Boys and Marcus Thirtle the Vandells. How crap of me to lead site visitors astray for the best part of ten years with the myth that they were one and the same geezer. Not so, but glad we got that sorted!
A few bits and pieces to give away this month: found a press cutting from the Evening Argus Spin-Off page on the Vandells. Also a few additional Chefs pieces have come to light and they now have their own gallery. There's also some additions to the Bright Girls and Executives.
The second edition of Sick fanzine is yours free to download, an interesting mix of Brighton bands: Depressions, Piranhas, Poison Girls, along with pieces on the Buzzcocks, Siouxsie & the Banshees and the Running Saws. Click on the links in the section below.
10 years of punkbrighton.co.uk:
We're celebrating our 10th anniversary this year, lots of goodies lined up for the coming months. We're going to start in March with a celebration of the rise of the Piranhas, Brighton's most popular and successful band from the punk era, as they made their way from the depths of a smelly old Vault and 'Fuck the Jubilee' to a silver disc and Top of the Pops. It's a funny old game. You never know what's around the corner. Up yours!
